So it looks like it’s been about 9 months since I’ve added anything to this page. Wow.
I’ve had quite a few trips between now and 9 months ago, but I guess I just haven’t had the time or motivation to keep up with posting here. Maybe I’ll get to it eventually…
May 1st. The big day. On May 1st I’ll be standing at the southern Terminus of the Pacific Crest Trail, on the border of Mexico and the United States. There I’ll look north at a trail that’s about 20 inches wide and 2,650 miles long. It sounds like I’ll have decent reception here and there, so hopefully I’ll be able to update this page regularly.
My resupply boxes are pretty much packed. My bag is constantly packed, unpacked and repacked. I’ve weighed literally every single item that I’ll be taking and still not happy with the weight.
Are my shoes going to be too small when my feet swell? Are my new shoes that are a half size too big going to be too big?
Should I pack sunscreen? That’s heavy…
Snakes. There are a lot of rattlesnakes down there. I hate snakes. Like, a lot.
Water. Is there water where they say there’s water? Ugh I don’t want to pack around a bunch of water. I also don’t want to die because I dont drink enough water.
Long sleeve or short sleeve? Not gonna take both…
Am I going to eat enough calories every day to even come close to keeping up? I really can’t lose more weight.
Did I pack too much food? Not enough food?
These and probably a hundred more questions are all that has been going through my head. But I also know that I’m going to get down there and everything will be fine. I can’t express in words how excited and anxious I am to get there and start crushing miles.
